Important Notice regarding Student Email Accounts

This is an important update regarding new student @hackensackstudents.org Google email accounts.

As was communicated in the past, all students in grades 5-12 now have email accounts.  However, before they can access their account, they need to return a signed copy of the Email Permission Form (see below).  Forms should be returned to your main office (or as designated by your administrator).

Since the accounts are generated automatically each night from Genesis using a script, we opted to use the standard convention below to create accounts:

Username: first_name_intial + first_4_letters_of_last_name + last_3_digits_of_student_id
Password: student_id + 2_digit_grad_year
Email: [username]@hackensackstudents.org

Example: 9th grader Tommy Jones with ID# 122910

Username: tjone910
Password: 12291017
Email: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.">

We created a report in Genesis where teachers will be able to generate a roster with student email information. The default password can be overridden through a custom "UserText" field we added for each student in Genesis. Access can also be disabled there through a custom flag.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.

Thank you,

Adrian Cepero

New 2013-2016 District Technology Plan

The new District 3-Year Technology Plan for 2013-2016 has been approved by the Hackensack Board of Education and the Bergen County Department of Education!

Over the next few months, we will be featuring components of the new plan through articles, webinars and presentations posted both here on the portal and on the District website.  I will also be holding Q&A sessions (via webinar) several times during the summer and school year.

Attached below is the plan in its entirety:

A Prezi will be posted shortly highlighting the overall direction of the plan as well as the new goals and objectives.
